What should I expect from my initial consultation?
Here is an outline of what is involved so you can come and see us with ease:
- A consultation of past medical history – your initial consultation will last up to 30 minutes depending on your needs. The therapist will ask you a range of questions about your health.
- A holistic assessment – our assessments are designed to check your quality of movement, plus any restrictions you might be struggling with. This includes any detection of restricted tissue, scar adhesions and inflammation. This is important as it enables us to establish what is preventing you from being at full health, and gives us all the information we require to tailor the most appropriate treatment to promote your recovery. (PLEASE NOTE: In order to complete a thorough assessment, we will need to examine the area to be treated. You may, therefore, find it more comfortable to bring a vest top if your condition is with your upper body, or a pair of shorts if you have a lower body condition. Loose-fitting clothes are also a good idea).
- Treatment – we will discuss possible treatment options with you and decide where to start. This will incorporate your preference for treatments and our recommendations. All treatment plans are individually tailored to suit your needs. Treatment options might include detailed advice and education on the problem and a tailored exercise programme to address movement quality and function. To get the most from your treatment you will be asked to follow advice and undertake exercises at home.
Follow Up Treatments
Feedback from you is always important as this guides the best approach. At each appointment, the therapist will ask about your response to treatment and adjust your treatment accordingly.
Please keep in mind that none of our treatments at YB Therapy are designed to be a substitute for medical advice or treatment. We always recommend that you consult your own doctor or professional healthcare provider regarding health concerns.
